Latest Ukraine war updates: 128 combat engagements in the past day, significant Russian losses, and a new $2.5 billion U.S. military aid package. Diplomatic talks continue, but the frontline situation remains tense.

Frontline Situation

In the past 24 hours, 128 combat engagements were reported.

  • On the Toretsk direction, Ukrainian forces repelled 13 enemy attacks in the Toretsk and Druzhba areas, with 11 stopped by Defense Forces and two ongoing.
  • On the Siversk direction, the enemy launched seven assault actions in the areas of Verkhnokamianske and Bilohorivka, all of which were successfully repelled.
  • On the Pokrovske direction, the enemy attacked 41 times, particularly near Yelyzavetivka, Promin, and Lysivka. Six engagements are still ongoing.

On the border with Russia’s Kursk region, the situation has escalated. Russian forces claimed control over the town of Sudzha, resulting in Ukraine nearly losing its foothold in the region. Russian President Vladimir Putin issued an ultimatum: surrender or die.

The strategic H07 highway has been cut off by Russian forces, hindering supply and reinforcement routes for Ukrainian troops. After Ukraine’s initial success, the situation shifted due to the loss of U.S. intelligence support and the involvement of North Korean forces, which facilitated a swift Russian counteroffensive. Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed that Ukrainian troops in Kursk surrender safely, yet Zelensky remained skeptical of Russia’s intentions and accused Putin of obstructing the peace process.

U.S. Secretary of State Marco Rubio expressed cautious optimism but emphasized the complexity of negotiations, stating that both sides must make concessions. The G7 nations warned Russia of further sanctions if no ceasefire agreement is reached.

International Military and Financial Support for Ukraine

The United States announced a new $2.5 billion military aid package for Ukraine, which includes:

  • Patriot and NASAMS air defense systems
  • Bradley and Stryker armored fighting vehicles
  • 155mm caliber artillery shells
  • Reconnaissance and strike drones (CNN)

Additionally, the United Kingdom delivered an extra batch of Storm Shadow missiles, enabling Ukraine’s armed forces to carry out precise strikes on Russian rear positions. Germany announced the delivery of 20 Panzerhaubitze 2000 self-propelled howitzers to enhance Ukraine’s artillery capabilities. (BBC)

The European Union is considering doubling its military aid to Ukraine to €40 billion in 2025, urging member states to contribute according to their economic capacity. (The Times)

In the Kharkiv region, Russian forces carried out a double strike on a hospital in Zolochiv, injuring a paramedic from the emergency response team.

Internal Situation in Ukraine

Ukrainian forces continue to demonstrate exceptional professionalism and courage. Notably, fighters of the 6th Special Operations Regiment “Ranger” successfully carried out an operation in Russia’s Kursk region, eliminating about ten Russian soldiers. (Militarny)
