Over the past day, the situation on the frontlines remained tense. The Armed Forces of Ukraine continued to repel enemy attacks in key directions, inflicting significant losses. Meanwhile, diplomatic efforts toward a ceasefire and international support for Ukraine remain ongoing.

Frontline Situation

During the reporting period, 183 combat clashes were recorded. The most intense activity was observed in the following directions:

  • Pokrovsk direction: 68 enemy attempts to breach Ukrainian defenses.
  • Lyman direction: heavy fighting in the areas of Kolodiazi and Yampilivka.
  • Kupiansk and Bakhmut directions: ongoing engagements on both sides.

Ukrainian Achievements:

  • Ukrainian forces advanced south of Klishchiivka, taking control of new positions along the railway line.
  • In the Lyman direction, Ukrainian troops placed enemy logistics routes near Terny and Zhytylivka under fire control.

Russian Losses

According to Ukraine’s General Staff, Russian forces lost the following over the past day:

  • 1,280 personnel;
  • 5 tanks;
  • 15 armored combat vehicles;
  • 17 artillery systems;
  • 59 unmanned aerial vehicles;
  • 77 vehicles and fuel tankers.

Destroyed Russian Targets:

  • Ukrainian forces destroyed a Russian command-observation post near Orlivka (Avdiivka direction).
  • A 152 mm enemy artillery battery was struck near Bakhmut.
  • In the rear area of Zaporizhzhia region, a Russian fuel depot was hit.

Diplomatic Initiatives and Negotiations

On March 25, under U.S. mediation, Ukraine and Russia reached agreements to cease hostilities in the Black Sea and halt attacks on energy infrastructure. President Volodymyr Zelenskyy confirmed Ukraine’s commitment to the truce but expressed concerns about possible Russian manipulation.

Kremlin spokespersons, as quoted by Reuters, acknowledged “some progress” but emphasized that additional conditions must be met, including Russia’s reconnection to SWIFT, the resumption of grain and fertilizer exports, and lifting sanctions on certain Russian officials.

According to AP News, Ukrainian representatives also held separate consultations with the EU and Turkey on monitoring mechanisms and international guarantees for the ceasefire.

International Military and Financial Support

In addition to U.S. proposals for sanction relief, a special mechanism is being discussed for monitoring the transit of critical goods (e.g., ammonia and grain) through the Black Sea, with UN involvement.

According to The Guardian, the United Kingdom is considering additional military aid to Ukraine, including medium-range air defense systems and training programs for Ukrainian troops by late spring 2025.

Humanitarian Situation in Ukraine

Despite the announced ceasefire, both sides accuse each other of violations. Ukraine reported more than 100 Russian drones launched overnight, including strikes on infrastructure in Mykolaiv and Odesa regions. Russia claimed to have downed nine Ukrainian drones over Belgorod and Kursk regions.

According to CNN, kamikaze drone attacks on Mykolaiv damaged at least 11 civilian buildings and injured seven civilians. Power outages were reported in several districts.

Domestic Situation in Ukraine

The Security Service of Ukraine (SBU) detained a former Ukrainian serviceman suspected of collaborating with Russian intelligence and assisting Russia’s offensive in the Kursk region.

In Kyiv, a group was exposed for using cryptocurrency transactions to finance disinformation campaigns aimed at undermining the mobilization campaign and eroding public trust in the government.

Conclusion

The situation on the front remains difficult despite ongoing diplomatic efforts to establish a ceasefire. The international community continues to support Ukraine while seeking peaceful solutions. Further developments will depend on compliance with the agreements, the effectiveness of international monitoring, and Ukraine’s ability to maintain stability in its rear areas.
