Heavy fighting continues in the Avdiivka sector, where Russian forces advance despite significant losses, while in the Bakhmut sector, Ukrainian troops have made gains, pushing Russian forces out of positions near Klishchiivka in the last 48 hours.
On October 24, there are a lot of new developments of many areas – YouTube channel Military Lab reports.
In Donetsk, heavy battles continue in the Avdiivka sector. Russians advance north of Avdiivka despite losses. After two weeks of intense battles and suffering heavy casualties, Russian forces managed to make some advances on the northern part of the frontline in the areas south-west of Krasnohorivka.
According to the Ukrainian source Deep State Map, but also based on recent geolocations, the Russian forces took control over some positions east of the railway near Stepove; however, it seems that battles are still ongoing in this direction.
Geolocated footage published yesterday by Russian sources showed that the Ukrainian Army is actively counterattacking with small mechanized units in this area. In the footage published by Russian sources, a Ukrainian T-64BV tank and a MT-LB armored fighting vehicle advanced across the railway and attacked Russian forces east of Stepove. Eventually, the Ukrainian unit got ambushed by Russian FPV drones, but the footage suggests that neither side has solid control over this part of the frontline.
After powerful attacks with armored units Situation on the Terrikon stronghold and infantry forces backed by intense artillery fire: Russian forces managed to dislodge the Ukrainian soldiers from the Terrikon hill north of Avdiivka. Being under heavy artillery fire, the small Ukrainian units that were operating on top of the hill were forced to abandon their positions. Russian sources published footage of the Russian flag as well as the flag of the 114th Motor Rifle Brigade on top of the waste hill; however, in the video, no Russian soldiers are seen moving around, which proves how difficult it is to maintain a presence on top of the Terrikon. Even the Russian flags only lasted a few hours because, in a video published later by Ukrainian sources, a Ukrainian FPV drone is seen hitting and destroying the Russian flags, and again, no presence of Russian soldiers was seen on top of the hill, which further confirms the claims that the stronghold itself remains a no-man’s land. This hill is an important observation point that helped Ukrainians oversee the Russian movements in the areas between Kransohorivka and Kamyanka, and losing this position can encourage the Russian army to launch more armored attacks in this direction in hopes that they might be more effective than their previous attempts. However, so far, it seems that the Russians have not been able to establish control over the Terrikon, as it is almost impossible to build ATGM or mortar positions on top of the exposed terrain. Regarding the Russian losses in this sector, Russia’s massive losses confirmed by satellite Ukrainian sources are claiming that the number of destroyed Russian equipment has increased to more than 200 units, and it seems that after suffering massive losses in tanks and armored vehicles, the Russian Army has decided to rely more on waves of small infantry units to attack Ukrainian positions instead of the large armored convoys, which so far have failed to make any significant progress.
Through high-quality satellite images, Ukrainian sources proved that during the first 10 days of their offensive in Avdiivka, Russians lost more than 109 tanks and armored vehicles, a number that is comparable, if not greater, than the number of losses Ukrainians suffered during the 5 months of their offensive in the robotics sector. Ukrainians advance east of Andriivka.
In Bakhmut, front clashes continue near Klishchiivka, Andriivka, and Kurdiumivka.
During the last 48 hours, Ukrainian forces managed to advance across the railway line and push the Russian forces out of some positions near the small lakes east of Klishchiivka.
