Frontline report Day 616: Intense Clashes and Major Developments in the Ukrainian-Russian Conflict Frontlines

In the ongoing clashes between the Ukrainian army and Russian invaders, significant developments include Ukrainian counterattacks in the Stepove-Avdiivka line, pushing back Russian infantry forces, and Ukrainian successes in securing key positions and tunnels near Klishchiivka, highlighting the intensity of the conflict and the heavy losses suffered by the Russian forces.

On November 1, there were many important updates from the front of the clashes between the Ukrainian army and the army of the Russian invaders – YouTube channel Military Lab reports.

In Donetsk front fierce battles continue in Avdiivka sector.

With the deployment of the fresh Ukrainian reinforcements, it seems that the Russian advance has stalled throughout the entire frontline. According to some Ukrainian sources during the last few hours the intensity of the Russian assaults has dropped significantly on the northern part of the frontline as the Ukrainian forces are counterattacking in the Stepove-Avdiivka line, forcing the Russian infantry forces to move back after being unable to establish solid control over positions along the railway. A very interesting geolocated footage was posted today by Russian sources which shows a group of Ukrainian infantry forces operating about 600 meters deep into the northern flank of the Russian army, near the N20 highway.

The Russian artillery responded and targeted the Ukrainian unit, but the presence of the Ukrainian forces in this area is a big threat to the Russian rear.

The reason for that is because this unit was geolocated just 3 kilometers away from the most important and safest supply line of the Russian forces on the northern part of the frontline.

It is yet unclear if the Ukrainian forces managed to take positions in this direction but the activity of Ukrainian forces deep into the Russian flank can undermine the Russian offensive because and advance in this direction will allow the Ukrainian mortar and anti-tank crews to establish full fire control over this important road. The increased activity of the Ukrainian Army north of Krasnohorivka may force the Russian command to send a part of their forces to guard their rear which can further weaken their capabilities to conduct offensive operations towards the Stepove-Avdiivka segment. Today more details were published regarding the large scale of the Russian losses in Avdiivka. According to an investigation done by GeoConfirmed, since the start of the offensive on Avdiivka about 3 weeks ago, the Russian Army has suffered at least 197 confirmed losses in tanks, armored vehicles, and other military equipment with 18 more potential but unverified losses. For comparison, in 5 months of the Ukrainian offensive in the entire Zaporizhzhia front, Ukrainians lost about 225 pieces of equipment.

So, the scale of the Russian losses in Avdiivka is so massive that in just three weeks they suffered the same number of losses that the Ukrainians suffered in 5 months of their offensive in the southern front. According to official Ukrainian sources, the casualties in personnel of the Russian Army have already exceeded 5000 soldiers.

Many “neutral” sources were quick to call the Ukrainian offensive in the South a massive failure, only a few days after it had begun and when the Ukrainians had lost less than 10% of what Russians have lost so far in Avdiivka. So far, after three weeks of lacking any strategic advance and with the insane number of losses, none of the “neutral” sources have called the Russian offensive in Avdiivka a massive failure. On Bakhmut front there are ongoing battles near Klishchiivka, Andriivka and Kurdyumivka. During the last few days Ukrainian forces have made some small but important advances north of Klishciivka and east of Andriivka, securing the tunnels and defensive positions along the railway.

Recent geolocated footage published by Russian sources confirms that 2 days ago the Ukrainian special forces conducted offensive operations north of Klishchiivka.

After fierce fighting that took place in this direction the Ukrainian soldiers were able to dislodge the Russian forces and took control over an important tunnel position, fully securing the northern part of Klishciivka. Today in another video published and geolocated by Russian sources, Ukrainian forces were seen operating about 300 meters north of the railway embankment, which indicates that Ukrainian forces were also successful in clearing other dug-out positions that Russians had built along the Klishchiivka-Bakhmut road.

Further south Ukrainian forces consolidated their control across the railway and made some small advances north of the village Zelenopillya. Seeing the difficult situation, the Russian forces went on the counterattack and moved north of Zelenopillya with two armored vehicles and infantry forces. Russians tried to advance inside the gray area in order to land their infantry forces on the tree line positions. However, the Ukrainian artillery managed to ambush the Russian unit and wiped out the entire Russian infantry force.
